Medium Term Plan four dissemination held in Samburu County

Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS Zachariah Njeru has led the dissemination forum for the Kenya Vision 2030 fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) 2023-2027 in Samburu County.

The public engagement attended by national and county government officials, civil society, religious leaders and residents of Samburu county outlined the MTP programs to be implemented in line with the governments Bottom UP Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Speaking in Maralal town, the CS noted that it is the first time the government is involving residents in the dissemination of the Medium Term Plan, adding that a lot has been done in the three previous MTPs in various sectors such as roads, hospitals and education.

“The MTPIV is the country’s blueprint and it belongs to the people of Kenya and we want you to be its ambassadors by following up on its progress because it is aligned to the Kenya Kwanza manifesto of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda for inclusive growth,” he said.

Njeru noted that the aligned flagship projects in Samburu county include the completion of phase two of Yamo dam and the construction of various water pans and small dams in Samburu north and Samburu east to harvest runoff rain water to cushion residents and their livestock from drought.

“The government is also putting up an ICT center in every ward in Samburu County where young men and women will gain digital skills and be able to create employment and earn from digital jobs,” he noted.

At the same time, the CS noted that economic turnaround will be achieved through targeted investments across five the BETA pillars of Housing and Settlement, Agriculture, Healthcare, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy.

Other leaders present during the MTPIV public forum include Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu, Samburu Deputy governor Gabriel Lelengwesi and the County commissioner John Cheruiyot among others.
