Nakuru–Level-Five Hospital manager, Dr John Mburu has commanded a number of medics and community members who have continued to voluntarily donate blood at the Nakuru Regional Blood Center to ensure a rapid response for emergencies.
He said apart from the Regional Blood Center which serves other hospitals in the south rift region, the hospital has its own blood bank and they don’t necessarily depend on the central blood bank.
While speaking to KNA today during an interview at the hospital, he said unlike other areas which have been reporting insufficient blood, the county has adequate supplies from volunteers.
Since the closure of schools in the month of March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of hospitals have recorded a shortage of blood because the students are the major donors in the country.
