Athiriver Member of County Assembly Jeremiah Kaloi has asked partners and organizations to support children’s homes because there are bright and focused children in those homes who need support to excel.
Kaloi who was speaking at the Bondeni Children’s home and rescue center in Athiriver, Machakos County, as he shared food items with the children, said there are many factories and companies in Athiriver and they need to all join hands to support the children homes.
Bondeni Children’s Home and Rescue Center started in 2014 as a feeding program for street children and orphans in Bondeni slums of Athiriver, with the aim of rehabilitating and enrolling them back to school.
Bondeni Children’s home has now transitioned to one of the best children’s homes and rescue centers in Machakos County, and their aim is to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
Kaloi who sang and danced with the orphans in Bondeni assured them of his fatherly love, adding that they can trust and confide in.
He added that the rescue centre had a student who sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and scored 373 marks, which was a great performance for the student despite the challenges.
“There is a student here who scored 373 marks, which shows that we have bright students at the rescue center who, if well mentored, will contribute to the development of society,” he said.
The MC said orphans in children’s homes and rescue centres should be given priority in issuance of bursaries to help them access education.
He pleaded with well-wishers to come out and offer their support to the children’s homes in Athiriver and Machakos County so that they could change their lives and alleviate poverty.
