Mbeere North Constituency gets new MP

Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku is the MP elect for Mbeere North Constituency in Embu County after garnering 17,069 votes.

Ruku who vied on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket trounced three other candidates including the incumbent Muriuki Njagagua of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party who managed to get 16, 422 votes. Njagagua was seeking third term in office.

Others were Jubilee Party’s Patricio Njiru who came a distant third with 2,390 votes while Njuki Ngari of Devolution and Empowerment Party (DEP) was last after garnering 1,873.

The MP elect after receiving his certificate of election thanked area people for the support and the victory they gave him and promised to endeavor to better their lives.

“I am honored with the mandate that you have bestowed upon me through a rigorous and highly competitive electoral process. But more importantly I am grateful,” Ruku said.

He continued,” I am excited and grateful because of the big decision that the people of Mbeere North – the voters – have made to entrust me to lead them, to change the course of leadership and development in our community.”
