Marsabit CC promises voters of a conducive environment

Marsabit County commissioner Paul Rotich has assured voters in the county of a conducive and safe environment to exercise their civic duty after a vehicle transporting election materials to Goro-Rukesa polling Centre in Saku Constituency was attacked last night.

Mr Rotich said that the team was attacked as they approached the polling station by suspected rowdy youths who had blockaded the road with stones and logs.

The County Commissioner said that quick action by the police led to the arrest of two suspects who are helping with investigations

He added that a police officer was injured on the upper part of his right eye during the incident.

The vehicle, a Toyota Hiace on hire by the Independent Electoral And Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had all its left side windows and the rear windscreen damaged.

The County Commissioner warned that stern action would be taken against anybody involving themselves in acts of hooliganism.

He assured Marsabit residents that appropriate security measures were in place to offer them a safe and an enabling environment to participate in the general election and after the polls.
