The Magarini Sub County security committee has closed down Marafa boys secondary indefinitely following the burning down of one dormitory worth about Shs.3 million.
Confirming the incident on telephone on Tuesday, the Magarini Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Simon Lokorio said some students are believed to have been involved in torching the dormitory, resulting to the closure of the school to give way for investigations.
Lokorio said, already security team have arrested seven students suspected to have burnt down the dormitory and are held at Marafa police station to be interrogated.
He also said, “The school administration had earlier informed the DCC that the students had refused to take their lunch and stoning the administration block, before setting on fire the dormitory”.
Lokorio further said the students were sent home but would be recalled after the security committee and the education office agree on the measures to be taken to address the problems affecting the school.
