Police in Kericho are still on a manhunt for a man alleged to have stabbed to death his 25-year-old relative, following a quarrel at a drinking den at Tendwet village, Ainamoi Sub-county in Kericho on Sunday.
Kericho OCPD, Justus Kitetu said the deceased identified as Larry Kipkirui Ngeno was drinking changaa in the company of his cousin (name withheld) when he picked up a quarrel with him.
The cousin stabbed the deceased in the chest using a knife and fled the scene of the incident at 11pm, added Kitetu.
The deceased who was bleeding profusely was rushed to the Kericho County referral hospital by members of the public who witnessed the assailant fleeing on foot. Ngeno was later pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Kitetu said police had gathered crucial pieces of information and were working round the clock to apprehend the killer, saying it was unfortunate that the young man met an untimely death in inexplicable circumstances.
Police moved the body of the deceased to Kericho county referral hospital for postmortem examination.
