The Mandera County Government on Thursday embarked on a vigorous campaign to rid the region of narcotics and illicit brews.
The Mandera County Executive (CES) for Public Service, Ahmed Sheikh warned that the Executive will stop at nothing to cleanse the region of the vice.
Sheikh said drugs and alcohol have negatively impacted on the lives of many youths who have been turned into zombies, contributing decimally to the economy of the region.
He said youths have been deeply engaged in drug abuse and have become economically unproductive.
Landlords renting their houses for the illegal business have also been put on notice and warned that they risked being denied licenses in future.
The campaign being carried out by the County Reinforcement Agents will stretch to other Sub-counties and those found in possession of drugs and illicit brews taken to Court.
