The Mandera county hospital is closely monitoring a patient who travelled from Nairobi, and whose temperature was 39 degrees on arrival but with no other Covid-19 symptoms.
The male patient flew to Mandera on Monday and is now in an isolation ward and test samples have already been sent to Nairobi for analysis.
The County governor, Ali Roba said the county has so far screened over 10, 000 people along its borders with Somalia and Ethiopia, at the airstrip and road travelers with only one case having been found suspicious.
Roba, who spoke to journalists on Wednesday said although the county had set aside several isolation centres within specific health facilities, Nairobi was too far to send test samples for final results wishing other arrangements were made for ease of testing.
The county has limited equipment to fight the pandemic, he revealed.
He said the county was doing its best in terms of fumigating public places and running public awareness campaign.
