Man survives two weeks without food

A mentally challenged man from Tharaka-Nithi County has shocked many after surviving for a fortnight in a 60-foot well without food.
Royford Mugambi, 42 who has been living with his elderly mother in Gatituni village in Meru South Sub County, was rescued from the well Wednesday evening after disappearing for two weeks.
Speaking to KNA at their home Thursday, Mugambi’s elder brother Henry Gitonga said the family launched a search for their kin after making a ‘missing person’ report at Chuka police station.
Gitonga further revealed that when the family lost hope they went to Chuka County Referral Hospital mortuary to search for his body but all in vain.
He said a neighbouor, John Mwenda was working at a farm near the well, when he heard someone calling and at first he thought it was his father who was also working some metres away, but was surprised to realize that the voice was coming from a nearby well.
Gitonga further revealed that on hearing the news from his neighbor, he ran towards the well and using a ladder, he strenuously managed to pull out his brother who was very weak.
He said upon rescue his brother was pale, completely emaciated and totally confused but managed to ask for some water.
A doctor from the Chuka County Referral Hospital advised them to give him glucose solution and some milk for few days before introducing him to porridge and later soft food.
Family members and villagers have termed the incident as a miracle and vowed to conduct thanks giving ceremony to God for saving their kin.
