Shock has gripped Ex-Ndeiya village in Shamata ward, Nyandarua North Sub County after a man killed his wife and then committed suicide.
Anthony Ng’ang’a , 41, murdered his 35-year-old wife Jane Wairimu, using a kitchen knife and an axe before hanging himself several metres outside their house last night.
According to John Macharia, an uncle to the man, he was alerted by the couple’s 14-year-old daughter after she found her mother’s body lying on the bed.
He said that the girl told him that she woke up at night and found the lights on and the door open and closed the door and switched off the lights before going back to sleep.
Macharia told KNA that he rushed to his nephew’s house and found the woman lying dead in their bedroom but the man was missing.
“I mobilized neighbours and we went looking for him in the lower side of the compound. We found him hanging from a branch of a tree not far from the house,” the uncle said.
The Ndaragwa Sub County deputy police commander, Paul Saitoti who led a team of security officers to the scene said they recovered the killer knife and axe.
“The wife had a stab wound on her back and also another injury on the neck which we believe was caused by this axe,” the police officer said.
Saitoti urged couples to resolve domestic conflicts by consulting either religious people or friends instead of resorting to violence.
The bodies were taken to Nyahururu County hospital mortuary to await postmortem.
