Police in Kitengela are investigating an incident where a middle-aged man was killed and his body dumped by the roadside a few metres from the police station.
The deceased, Daniel Njuguna, a casual laborer from Noonkopir area, was found by passersby lying by the roadside. He had last been seen within the area the previous day at around 5pm drunk.
Isinya Sub-county police Commander Anderson Njagi confirmed the incident adding that the deceased had visible injuries on his face suspected to have been inflicted with a blunt object.
Njagi said the scene where his body lay appeared undisturbed, an indication that he could have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped there.
“The body of a middle-aged man was today found near the road. The man, a casual laborer had injuries on his face that we suspect might have been caused by a blunt object,” he said.
The Police Commander revealed that the man was well known in the area and investigations were already underway to apprehend the killers. The body was moved to Kitengela Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
This comes even as residents of Kitengela continue to raise concern over the rising cases of insecurity incidences in the town.
Barely a fortnight four men went missing after sharing a meal at a popular entertainment spot within the town.
The four, Elijah Obuong, Jack Ochieng, Benjamin Imbai, and Brian Odour vanished on April 19 and the vehicle they were using was found abandoned the next day at the restaurant’s parking bay.
Two bodies of the missing quartet; Elijah Obuong and Benjamin Imbai were found last week in Murang’a and Kiambu counties respectively.
