Man earns two-year imprisonment for stealing a radio

A  middle-aged  man  was  on Monday  sentenced to a two-year imprisonment term by a Kilifi  Court for stealing a radio and three  pieces of sub-woofer speakers all valued at Sh.12, 500.

Tony  Nyamwanga has the option to pay a fine of Sh.20, 000 for him to secure freedom after he was convicted of stealing by Kilifi Resident Magistrate (RM), Sitati Daniel Sitati.

The  accused committed the offence on November 18, 2019 at Rea Vipingo where he broke into Martin Waluhome Oduor’s house after the complainant left his house for work at 6am.

Oduor  told  the court that on his return at about 9am, he saw the accused who is his nephew descending a stair case from his house while carrying a yellow sub-woofer box.

He said  since he knew the accused as his brother’s son, he did not raise an alarm for help from neighbors but he instead reported the matter to Kijipwa police station on realizing there were missing items from his house.

The accused who admitted the offence and led police officers to a house whose owner he claimed to have sold the items to, pleaded for forgiveness.

In  the same court, Cosmas Chai was fined Sh.20, 000 or in default will serve 12 months imprisonment for assaulting his 17-year-old sister thereby causing her actual bodily harm.

He  was charged with slapping and kicking,  Fatuma Karisa at Majajani village on January 8, 2020 after he found her in the company of a boyfriend who ran away during the incident.
