A man from Rombo Loitoktok sub-county has been charged with defiling a 13-year-old girl after enticing her with mandazi.
The accused Johanne Ntete, who was before Loitoktok Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku was convicted that on August 12, 2023, at around 6.00 pm he lured the girl from her home with Mandazis.
The court heard that the minor followed him towards a gulley and along the way the accused assured her that she would be his wife.
However, Purity Maina, a neighbor who saw the accused and the minor alerted the girl’s mother.
The complainant’s mother, her son, and some neighbors proceeded to the gulley and found the accused in the act while his shorts and shuka were lying beside them.
He was apprehended as he tried to run away and police officers from Rombo police station arrested him while the girl was taken to a local health center for medical examination which confirmed she was defiled.
The accused denied defiling the girl citing that the group that detained him found him at home and started beating him before taking him to the station.
However, Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku faulted his defence saying that the various independent witnesses couldn’t conspire against him.
The matter was set for sentencing on January 15, 2024.
