A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 70 year old widow at Lala village, Arujo location in Homa Bay Sub County.
The woman reported that the suspect, whom she knows, broke who into her house Monday night and demanded for money but after getting the only Sh. 50 that she had, he raped her.
Yesterday morning, the suspect was spotted at Soko Mjinga in Homa Bay town by residents who alerted Homa Bay Township Assistant Chief, Duncan Odhiambo.
Odhiambo subsequently arrested and handed the suspect over to Homa Bay Police Station. “We got a tip off that the young man had been seen in Homa Bay town. I have handed him to police,” Odhiambo said.
Arujo Chief, Bob Lang’o promised to help police in investigating the matter, adding the granny had been living alone.
The victim was taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for medical examination.
