The County Government of Makueni has launched land clinic campaigns aimed at creating awareness among the residents on land issues in all 30 wards.
The initiative is geared towards educating residents on matters of succession law, inheritance claims, and property transfer processes, apart from addressing land ownership challenges, among others.
“This initiative is designed to ensure the residents understand their rights and responsibilities regarding inheritance and succession laws,” said the County Attorney Stanley Nthiwa during a land clinic forum held at Green Park in Wote town on Tuesday.
Nthiwa noted that many families in the county have land disputes, revealing that the County Government has prioritised legal education as a tool for promoting fairness and transparency in line with reducing land conflicts in the area.
“Our goal is to equip the residents with the necessary legal knowledge to secure their property and de-escalate levels of conflicts witnessed at the family level on issues of property succession,” he added.
The clinics have been conducted at Kathonzweni, Emali-Mulala and Kitise/Kithuki wards, respectively.
