Makueni Chief Magistrate Cosmas Maundu has ordered a Prosecutor handling the case of one Brian Kyalo Maithya to give a copy of charge sheet (documents) to the accused to enable the court to continue with the related proceedings.
Consequently, Maundu adjourned the case to be heard on March 24, 2025 and directed the Prosecutor to ensure the accused is provided with the documents and all witness statements so that the case could proceed unhindered.
The accused has been charged with being in possession of government stores illegally.
Maithya told the court that he has not been given the documents of the case and that his family has suffered since his arrest in December 2024.
“I do not have documents that are being used in this case. My family has suffered since I have been in Remand Prison since I was arrested in December,” lamented Maithya.
The accused was arrested on December 1, 2024 at 4pm in Unoa in Wote Town, Makueni Sub County where he was found in possession of a jungle green trouser belonging to the disciplined forces.
“I have directed the Prosecution to provide you with the necessary documents before the next hearing,” Maundu assured the accused.
