The Kenya Law Reform Commission (KLRC) has entered into a five years collaboration with Makueni County Assembly on strengthening the formulation of legislations and implementation of social, economic and political policies to empower the county government to work effectively.

KLRC Chief Executive Officer Joash Dache said the commission will offer the Assembly technical assistance to enable it come up with far-reaching legislations and policies.

“It’s important for the County Assembly to have many pieces of legislations while exercising their mandate and as a commission we are happy to facilitate the implementation of this memorandum,” Dache told the press at the Assembly chambers in Wote Township Tuesday.

He lauded the County Assembly for being the first in the country to enter into a collaboration with the commission adding good legislations and policies facilitate development in the devolved units.

Makueni County Assembly Speaker Douglas Mbilu said the five-year agreement they signed with the commission to legislate good laws in all sectors of development under the devolved functions was meant to benefit residents.

“These laws and policies will guide and govern both the current County Government and the next regime in ensuring that they deliver services and development to residents,” maintained Mbilu.
