Lugari police launch probe into mysterious death of grade 8 learner

Police in Lugari Sub County have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a grade 8 learner whose body was discovered yesterday inside his uncle’s unfinished house at Sinoko B village in Mautuma location.

The minor, aged 14, a Junior Secondary School learner at Macho Muslim Primary School- who lived with the grandmother, allegedly disappeared on Sunday and attempts to trace his where about failed.

According to the grandmother Elsheba Mbone Malavi the deceased was okay and had not shown any signs of being stressed.

She recounted: “On Sunday before I left for church, he was fine and in high spirits. He even wished me well and asked me to take care of myself and that was at around 10 o’clock. Unfortunately, when I came back I didn’t find him.

“His prolonged absence became suspicious. I tried calling some of our relatives to find out if he had gone there without success. Attempts by his younger brother and other friends to look for him were also in vain.

“It was not until yesterday morning when his brother who was preparing to go to school went to their uncle’s unfinished house to change clothes that he discovered his brother’s body.”

The Sub County Police Commander Julius Melly confirmed that investigations into the incident have commenced to unravel the mysterious death.

“I have already directed the Panpaper Officer Commanding Station to fast track investigations into the matter to ascertain the truth if the boy truly committed suicide.” He said.
