A stalemate was the outcome on Sunday at Camp Toyoyo as Gor Mahia Youth held Liberty Sports Academy to a goalless draw in Division One league match.
The draw saw Liberty Sports youth academy hopes of dislodging Equity club who occupy the second position in the division one league table hit a dead end as they failed to find the back of net of their opponents.
Gor Mahia Youth cemented their position nine in the league table with 24 points as Liberty Sports Academy are in a tie of position three with Ruiru Hotstars who beat SS Asad 2-0 on Sunday.
The match started strongly as both teams eyed the three points that would be the award to collect at the end of the day with players showing determination and hard work but neither of the teams took their chances and as at the half time, there was nothing to separate the two teams.
Gor Mahia Youth had better chances in the second half which left the fans frustrated as they missed the chances that could have given them the lead.
“The game was good. The players have played well today despite missing big chances but that’s football,” said Jared Akech the Gor Mahia’s Youth Coach.
Lloyd Kavuchi should have given Gor mahia Youth the lead at the closing minutes after receiving a great pass in the box but opted to pass instead which saw their opponents recover the ball possession.
Liberty Sports Youth Academy coach Edward Karanja praised his players for good performance and termed the draw as a fair result.
He added that his team would put more efforts in working towards their next game against Equity.
