Fresh leadership wrangles have emerged in the Homa-Bay County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party coordinating Committee pitting a faction led by Woman Rep Gladys Wanga against one led by Homa-Bay town MP Opondo Kaluma.
Wanga is the county party Chairperson while Kaluma is the organizing secretary but they have differed over a change in the list of branch officials made during a meeting on Friday by the Wanga faction.
Mr. Kaluma dismissed the changes, terming them un-procedural claiming that party election rules were not followed as indicated in the party constitution.
Speaking to the press at Rodi-Kopany within his constituency, Kaluma said that he was not invited to the meeting as the Organizing Secretary adding that other members of the county coordinating committee were also overlooked.
He opposed the election of Kasipul MP Eve Obara as the Secretary, Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino as Treasurer among other positions in the new lineup by the Wanga team.
The MP said claims that Ogondo Were, his Ndhiwa counterpart Martin Owino and Eve Obara are not members of the committee and their elevation to fill such positions is illegal. He termed the Friday meeting as a tea-party to entertain those in attendance.
Kaluma called on ODM grass roots leaders to embrace those who contested various seats in the last general elections on other parties and are willing to re-join ODM so that they can strengthen the party ahead of the 2022 general election.
