Leaders Urged to Promote National Unity and Development

National Assembly Majority Party Whip and South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro has called on leaders to shun tribal divisions and work together to build a united nation.

Speaking during the Madaraka Day Celebrations in Etago Sub County, MP Osoro said the political class should focus on working for all Kenyans in order to transform the country’s economy.

“We do not want national leaders who are only working towards developing the regions they come from, but rather leaders who are working on the national agenda of the country to ensure that development is cascaded to all regions,” he said.

The Majority Whip urged the political leaders to support the implementation of President Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which is geared towards economic turnaround and inclusive growth.

Osoro affirmed the Gusii community had resolved to unite and work together in order to improve the lives of their people.

Speaking at the same event, Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Aburi told the residence to promote peaceful co-existence at all times adding that it was time for leaders to stop politicking and deliver on their promises to the electorates.

She added that leaders should strive to address the everyday challenges faced by residents such as lack of access to clean water, poor road networks and inadequate power connectivity among others.

Besides donating tricycles to people with disabilities in the area during the celebrations, Mrs. Aburi highlighted that her office had allocated 6 million for various projects in South Mugirango Constituency including the construction of water projects in Tabaka and Nyamongo areas to address water shortages.
