Lack of electricity hampers learning in school

Uwi Primary School in Suba North Constituency has not embraced digital learning since its introduction due to lack of electric power supply.

The School has been left behind in the roll out of digital learning programme in school.

The School’s Board of Management (BOM), Christopher Alando, said that the digital learning programme is alien to the learners and expressed fear that this is likely to jeopardize their performance.

Mr Alando who spoke to the press called on the government to intervene by providing the School with electricity to enable digital learning to pick up.

Alando said that the Kenya Power hoisted a few poles in the year 2013 and left before connecting the school with the power.

He said the School is under security threat, especially at night, adding that the learning institution is not able to protect its property because there is no electric power to provide security lights in the night.

The Chairman cited an instance in the recent past where some thugs took advantage of the darkness and attempted to break into teacher’s quarters at night before they were repulsed.
