Kenya Inter-Counties Youth Sports Association (KYISA), Southern Regional Trials in soccer and volleyball discipline, will be held this Saturday at the Mumias Sports Complex.
The youth will be drawn from Mumias East, Khwisero, Mumias West, Matungu and Butere, to represent the County in this year’s edition of the KYISA.
Already 47 youth from the Central Region have been selected for the Ninth Edition of KYISA, to be held from March 22nd to 30th in Tharaka Nithi County.
Chief Officer for Sports, Youth and Library Services, Joseph Abucheri, congratulated the players who made it in the Central Region and pressed them to remain disciplined, to make into the final squad that will carry Kakamega County’s flag.
He said this is in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Social Development agenda, on facilitating suitable events and activities to showcase and open opportunities for talented young men and women in Kakamega County.
Kenyan international, Henry Meja, currently plying trade with Swedish side, Norrby IF on loan from AIK, was spotted by Kenya Premier League’s Tusker FC, during the 2019 KYISA games in Kericho County.
The youth aged between 18 to 23 have been given the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents with the intention of being scouted by selectors and other big clubs.
He added that the selection process in the respective regions and ultimate participation in the National event, is in line with the Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barraza’s agenda of developing grass root talents.
He said the County will facilitate the events to showcase and open external opportunities for Kakamega County’s sportsmen and women.
