Kwale youth urged to be peace ambassadors

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has urged the youth to be ambassadors of peace and social cohesion in order to foster unity in the region.

Governor Achani asked the youths to eschew violence and embrace peace, saying it’s only a peaceful atmosphere that can guarantee meaningful development and economic prosperity for all.

Achani has reiterated her administration’s commitment towards youth empowerment, describing them as the ‘engines’ of the development and success of the coastal county.

Governor Achani said youth should embrace peace, inclusion, and shun violence as future leaders of the nation.

She appealed to the youth to cooperate with the devolved unit and cautioned them not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians to instigate violence and cause trouble.

The governor stated this when she met a group of youth leaders in Kwale town drawn from the six subcounties.

“As the young people of this county of Kwale and Kenya in general, you should embrace peace, be productive, and be responsible to society,” she said.

She advised the youth to strive to contribute meaningfully to the development of their immediate communities, county, and country at large.

The county boss asked the youth to embrace all the opportunities provided by the county and national government empowerment programmes to enhance their lot.

She reiterated that youth empowerment and women’s inclusion were priorities for the devolved government.

“I am committed to operating a youth-centered administration, and already I have appointed several youth into the county cabinet and other administrative positions,” she said.

“Youth and women-focused programmes would accelerate sustainable growth and development in the county,” she said, adding that youth empowerment is a major focus of her administration.

She said the youth constitute the majority of the residents, and they play a very important role in the progress of the society.
