The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Foundation has donated a water tank to Mukulusu Secondary School in Shinyalu as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The 8000 litre Water tank will increase storage capacity that will enable the school to have enough water and also supply to the surrounding community.
The school was initially utilizing a 10,000-litre water tank which would be consumed within two days as the school with a population of 450 students uses 5000 litres of water per day.
Water is pumped to the Storage tanks using solar energy from a 35m deep borehole drilled adjacent to the school.
The Principal of the school, Bwire Alianda thanked KTDA Foundation for donating the tank to the school which has solved water scarcity challenges that they were grappling with.
When donating the water Tank, KTDA director representing Zone 12 Alung’ana Khasiani said the KTDA Foundation is ready to chip in to assist schools to get storage tanks to enable them have access to clean and fresh water.
Students thanked the Foundation for the donation which they said will enable them to concentrate in class and also enable them to get water at home close to their doorsteps.
