The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) has commenced in Machakos with 38,138 students sitting for their exams in the 9 sub counties in Machakos.
The 32,138 students include 16,859 boys and 15,269 girls from grade 6 who are sitting for KPSEA that will see them join Junior Secondary school (JSS) next year.
The exam assessment, which is part of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), is being administered between October 28 -30 in over 1083 KPSEA centers in Machakos.
According to Machakos Director of Education Margaret Muirigi, there were no hiccups as they distributed exam materials in the morning, they were well prepared for the exams and transporting it to various schools.
Muirigi said there was no security needed for the KPSEA candidates since the police were only required to transport the exam materials to the schools and later pick them up.
She noted that the students will be tested in Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Science, Social Studies and Creative Arts.
Muirigi added that Athi River Sub County had the highest number of KPSEA students at 7964 followed by Mwala with 4422 students, Yatta 4422, Masinga, 3940, Machakos 3334, Kathiani 2661, Kangundo 2302, Matungulu 1503 and Kalama Sub County at 1434.
