The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director, Captain William K. Ruto, has overseen the donation of foodstuffs valued at Sh4.65 million to 19 organisations in the Coast region.
This generous contribution, made ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, is part of KPA’s commitment to supporting vulnerable Muslim communities as part of their deep commitment to care and responsiveness to the call for greater corporate involvement in social welfare.

This initiative, according to Ruto, highlights KPA’s dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility and its steadfast support for community development.
The donation comprised sugar, maize flour, wheat flour, beans, cooking oil, rice and other varieties of food.
Speaking at the Kenya Port Authority’s Headquarters, the MD noted that this period is a time of devotion, reflection, and generosity—values that resonate with the company and the community.
“Inspired by the theme of the month, we as the KPA family believe that our role extends beyond port operations, and as a Responsible Corporate Citizen, we are committed to initiatives that uplift the communities we serve,” Ruto highlighted.
He added that this initiative also underscores the importance of partnership in creating positive change, as they are proud to stand with the community by ensuring that more families can celebrate Eid with dignity and joy.
The MD said that this contribution will benefit 19 organisations that work tirelessly to support and advocate for the community’s well-being.
Among them are umbrella organisations including the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya, the Supreme Council of Muslims, the Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council, and the Kenya Muslim Women Alliance.
Other recipients include Rights Organizations, the community itself, groups of religious institutions, boarding schools with large Muslim populations, and the various constituencies.
“By channelling support through this network, we hope to reach as many people as possible and make a meaningful impact. As we distribute this donation, we hope to bring comfort to those in need, reinforcing the spirit of sharing and kindness that defines this Holy Month,” Ruto added.
He noted that they have not left Lamu Port, as the food donation would be extended there the following day.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to all the leaders who had joined them in standing with KPA and emphasised that the organisation firmly believes in unity among all people, both Muslims and Christians.
“As the holy month of Ramadhan comes to an end, I urge everyone to continue remembering and supporting those in need. On behalf of KPA’s Board, the management, and the staff, I extend my best wishes to the Muslim community as they mark the end of the Holy Month. May this season bring peace, joy, and blessings to all,” Ruto concluded.
The Chairman of SUPKEM, Hassan Ole Naado, on behalf of all Islamic organisations, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Managing Director of KPA and his corporate team for their generous donation of food worth 4.6 million to underprivileged families in the Coast region.
He urged that being at the peak of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, it is a time to dedicate more prayers and draw closer to God.
Naado emphasised that true closeness to God could not be achieved without compassion for fellow human beings.
Let us support the less fortunate in society, including persons with disabilities, widows and orphans, by extending kindness and assistance in every possible way. By doing so, we would strengthen our faith and devotion to God,” Naado said.
The chairman further encouraged people to avoid wrongdoing, uphold righteousness and foster goodwill within their communities and the nation as a whole.
