Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Homa Bay County branch has appealed to the investigative team to hasten probe into the brutal murder of their colleague on Tuesday night.
George Owino Kodada (40), a teacher at Oindi Primary school at Kogol village in Kanam B location of Rachuonyo North Sub County was brutally murdered by unknown assailants over suspected retaliatory attack following the death of one of the villagers last week.
Speaking to KNA, Union Homa Bay County branch chairman Patrick Were condemned the brutal murder of their colleague saying detectives should enhance their investigations to bring the suspects to book.
Were further expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner which George Owino was murdered at his home by a group of gangsters in unclear circumstances.
The KNUT boss reiterated that as the union they will not allow their members to continue suffering at the hands of gangsters in the county citing the case of a teacher at Kisui primary school in Suba North Sub County who was killed by unknown people in 2018 and the attack of a teacher in West Karachuonyo.
He argued that the assailants who attacked and killed the deceased is well known in the area hence the security team should come out and expedite their investigations over the matter to ensure the suspects arrested and charged before the court of law
At the same time, Were underscored that most teachers in the area were living in fear following the attack and warned that if the culprits are not brought to book they will resort to peaceful demonstrations to condemn the killing of their colleague.
