The Trans Nzoia county government is planning to disinfect Kitale town as one way of preventing the spread of Corona virus.
In a meeting with the Trans nzoia Covid 19 emergency response team , area Governor Patrick Khaemba asked traders to close down their businesses in preparedness for the exercise that has been scheduled to take place from Sunday.
“I want to call upon traders at the open air market to hold on their businesses as the county find an alternative place to relocate them,” he said
Trans Nzoia county commissioner Samson Ojwang banned operations of all Boda boda riders in Kitale town CBD, barber shops and salons within the region as part of efforts to achieve social distancing guidelines.
“We have banned all Boda Boda riders from accessing Kitale town so as to decongest the town in an effort to reduce the number of human traffic to achieve social distancing,” Ojwang said.
Meanwhile Trans Nzoia county Red Cross team has stretched its war against the spread of corona virus by sensitizing and educating the public on preventive measures.
Trans Nzoia county Red Cross coordinator Ruth Miningwo said that the organization had highlighted sensitive groups including street families and prisoners to sensitize them about the spread and possible preventive measures.
“We have sensitized 34 street children on signs and symptoms of corona virus and also how to protect themselves and others,” she said.
The Red Cross coordinator also today trained and sensitized 15 prison officers at Kitale medium prison on how to handle inmates during this season.
Kitale Medium Prison officer Incharge Joseph Kiarie stated that prison was a sensitive area given that prison wardens were a link between the public and inmates and urged the officers to take precaution on this deadly virus.
