Kisumu Rugby Football Club (KRFC) has received a shot in the arm after securing sponsorship from Kisumu Specialists Hospital ahead of the annual Dala 7’s tournament.
The team will wear Kisumu Specialists Hospital colors during the tournament which kicks off on 1st July 2022 at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.
Kisumu Specialists Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Peter Caesar said the move was informed by the team’s resilience and commitment to post good results.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony of the team’s New Jersey, Dr. Caesar said the health facility will stand with the team beyond the tournament to restore Kenya’s rugby glory.
KRFC Head Coach, Dick Osiano, said the sponsorship has boosted morale at the camp with the players promising to go all the way out to lift the title.
Osiano said all the players had reported to the camp and were fit to take on their competitors as preparations for the tournament reached homestretch.
“I want to assure our sponsors that we shall give it our best shot and will not disappoint them,” he said.
Some 40 teams and 780 players are expected to participate in the tournament which was first held in 2003.
Dala sevens (7s) is a National Sevens circuit Rugby tournament held in Kisumu in the Western Region of Kenya.
The tournament is about bringing rugby back home as most talented rugby players come from Western part of Kenya.
