Kisii County Public Service Board urged to focus on service delivery

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has told the newly sworn-in county public service board members to focus on improving public service delivery to the people.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony of the board’s chairperson and five members at Gusii Stadium in Kisi town, Arati congratulated the team on their appointment and urged them to follow the precincts of the law as they execute their duties.

The governor noted that the team had a lot of tasks to undertake, including the confirmation of 904 Early Childhood and Development Education (EDCE) teachers, the handling of indiscipline cases among staff in the county, employees with fake academic papers, and promotions, among others.

“Some staff have never tasted the fruits of their sweat in school because they did not know anybody and failed to be promoted in past regimes. Let us give those people a fair ground like any other citizen of this country,” he said.

The appointees include Elijah Obebo as the chairperson of the board and Jared Omwoyo, Kefah Mose, Dr. Silas Ayunga, Jane Nyabuto, and Victoria Masese as members.

The county boss added that they had procured a biometric attendance system for all the wards to provide accurate and automated tracking of employees’ attendance to improve efficiency.

Kisii Deputy Governor, Dr. Robert Monda, urged the board to uphold ethical standards and take charge of the public service so they can move the county staff whenever necessary.

He noted that the team will face a lot of criticism because they are serving in a political office and encouraged them to remain firm so that they can solve issues of human resources in the county.

On his part, Kisii County Assembly Speaker, Dr. Phillip Nyanumba, said the vetting process of the newly appointed board was transparent, and he was confident that the team was capable of performing its duties.

Dr. Nyanumba called for continuous collaboration between the board and the County Assembly to ensure they deliver the governor’s agenda to the residents of Kisii.
