Kisii County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, Mr Patrick Lumumba, said the County government would do an identification parade to remove County askaris who allegedly harassed a vegetable vendor and demanded sexual favours before returning their merchandise.
Speaking on phone, Mr Lumumba stressed that every citizen has a right to be heard over an accusation of any offense, saying the matter was still under investigation by the County government.
“As government, we have asked that these officers be paraded and if one is identified, disciplinary action will be taken,” he assured.
This comes after a viral video clip showed a woman identified as Lydia Gesare, claiming that her two sacks of vegetables were taken away by a county askari who allegedly asked for sexual favours before releasing them to her.
Kisii County government is currently decongesting Kisii town by demolishing stalls constructed in undesignated areas and dispersing small-scale traders selling goods by roadsides.
