Kirinyaga Women Protest Over Insults On First Family

A section of women in Kirinyaga County has condemned Legislators who insulted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother while also holding demos to express their anger.

The local Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization said the insults hurled to Mama Ngina Kenyatta were also directed   to the entire women folk in the country.

Through its County Secretary Wanjiku Gatimu, the organization said the vulgarity used by the Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno and his Kapsaret counterpart Oscar Sudi against the former first lady   was unacceptable and disrespectful to women.

“As women of this great nation, we cannot allow anyone to use vulgar language and also hurl insults against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother and demand that stern action be taken against the perpetrators,” Gatimu warned.

Another group of women led by a nominated MCA Lucy Njeri held a peaceful demonstration in Kerugoya and Kutus towns and castigated both Ng’eno and Sudi for their disrespect to the women folk.

Njeri said the words Ngeno used at a public rally in his constituency not only demeaned the former first lady but the entire Kenya women.

“These two legislators are grandsons to Mama Ngina Kenyatta and it was very inhuman and un –African to insult and elderly person of her status,” she said.

The women threatened to stage more peaceful demonstrations until the two MPs went public to tender their sincere apologies or else stand cursed for doing the unthinkable.

Posed Njeri; “how would the two leaders have felt if their mothers were publicly insulted over matters which did not concern them? Mama Ngina Kenyatta is not in active politics and I wonder why drag her name into the murky world over issues that did not concern her”.
