Kimilili Member of Parliament involved in an accident

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Wekesa Barasa escaped death by a whisker after he was involved in a road accident in Kanduyi constituency on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred along Ndengelwa-Ekitale road near seventh day Adventist church while he was travelling to Ranje to attend the funeral of Mzee Joseph Sungura.

The driver of the MP’s vehicle, a Toyota Prado registration number KCE 585J is said to have lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road leading to the accident.

Eye witnesses explained that the brakes failed and the car was directed to a nearby security electricity post which he hit before the car landed in a ditch on the opposite side of the road.

Two cyclists were also hit and injured badly and are undergoing treatment at Bungoma level four hospital.

The MP with his team miraculously came out of the overturned car unscathed.

Barasa confirmed that a CT scan was done promptly and doctors confirmed that he was well.

The police rushed to the scene and were able to contain enraged boboda operators who wanted to set the car ablaze.

It was towed to Ndengelwa police station for safety.

The Kimilili lawmaker said he will foot the hospital bills of the two who were injured by his car.

He said he was lucky to be alive. The car was extensively damaged.
