Kilifi governor, Amason Kingi has condemned the attack and killing of an ODM supporter in Ganda ward and called for immediate action to arrest those involved and arraign them in court for justice to prevail.
Addressing the media outside his offices on Wednesday, Kingi who was flanked by Kilifi leaders among them Women Representative, Getrude Mbeyu, Magarini MP, Michael Kingi, Ganze MP, Teddy Mwambire and Kilifi North MP, Owen Baya also called for the removal of the Malindi Sub County commander and his deputy for their being partisan during the area ward by elections campaigns.
He said the shooting during a meeting at the home of Reuben Katana who is vying for the seat on an ODM ticket was unfortunate since the police had been informed of the meeting that was to distribute agents.
“We urge the government to speed investigations into the killing of Jona Ngumbao after the attack by police who invaded the home accompanied by Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa. We do not want a repeat of the past chaos during elections,” he said.
Kingi said attacks like the one witnessed yesterday should not be allowed as it had been targeted to assassinate the ODM candidate, an action that could lead to chaos and called for justice to be done to the culprits and serve as a warning to other politicians who could be planning for the same during the 2022 general elections.
