Police have been beefed up patrols in all major towns of Mtwapa, Malindi, Mariakani and Kilifi in Kilifi County as Christmas and New Year festivities progress.
Incoming County Police Commander Nelson Shiluwi Taliti said two security officers have been signed to every estate in the towns while others have been assigned to make day and night patrols in hotels to ensure peace prevails throughout Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He assured members of the public and visitors enjoying the holidays in local hotels and beaches of their security.
The police boss however cautioned them to be mindful in observing Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols as they move around to avoid the risks of contracting the disease.
“All Christmas and New Year revellers in the County are assured of their security when moving around but they must observe Ministry of Health protocols against coronavirus for their own safety. Cases of infection among them must always be kept at bay”, he said.
Taliti told members of the public to be quick in giving information to the security forces of any incidences of insecurity for prompt action to be taken. He said more security personnel have been assigned duties in insecure areas of Chonyi and Rabai where some outlawed groupings have reportedly been meeting.
