Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has flagged off 18 teams for the Kenya Inter County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA), set to be held in Meru County from August 21–26, 2023.
Speaking during the occasion held outside his office, Kahiga said Nyeri County has assembled a diverse and gallant team of 276 staff to represent the county in various disciplines, which include ball games, netball, badminton, racket games, athletics, tug of war, darts, pool, squash, chess, table tennis, scramble, and cultural dance. For the first time in history, the county will participate in golf and soccer games.
Kahiga congratulated the selected teams after a free and fair recruitment exercise. And also wished the teams led by their captains the very best.
He further urged them to fly high the Nyeri County flag just like in the previous KICOSCA games, whereby Nyeri has won in squash, darts, and choir performance, among others, putting Nyeri County on a pedestal.
The theme for the 10th edition of the KICOSCA games is ‘Celebrating Nationalism through Sports and Culture’.
