Kiambu hospitals receive health equipment to boost services

Karuri Level Four Hospital, in Karuri Ward, Kiambaa Sub-County in Kiambu has received new equipment including a new ultrasound machine, four drip stands, nebulizers, oximeters, and BP machines.

Additionally, Cianda and Gathanga dispensaries have also received an oximeter and BP machines to boost the health services in the two facilities.

Kiambu Governor, Kimani Wamatangi while delivering the health equipment to the various hospitals in the county said he was committed to fully elevate health care standards in the county.

The governor who was accompanied by some Members of County Assembly (MCA) said, “In my commitment to fulfilling my promise to residents of Kiambu we have delivered essential medical equipment to our facilities.

During the distribution, Kiambu Level 5 hospital, Riabai, and Ting’ang’a health centres received oxygen concentrators, medical oxygen regulators, BP machines, suction machines, and wheelchairs.

Ruiru Level 4 Hospital received an ultrasound machine, delivery beds, patient monitor, nebulizer, suction machines, foetal scopes and dental X-ray machine to further enhance the quality of care provided.

The distribution comes a few days after the Governor bought an X-ray machine for Igegania Level 4 Hospital located in Gatundu North Sub- County, a move that will save the residents from travelling long distances to access health services.

The development, according to Wamatangi is in line with the county government’s objective of enhancing healthcare delivery across all facilities and making sure that every resident benefits from advanced medical technology and quality service.

Delivery of the equipment is part of Wamatangi care plan that was inaugurated last year. The initiative, dubbed “Kiambu Afya,” has enhanced medical coverage funded by the County Government and implemented by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The Universal Healthcare mass NHIF registration has so far registered 70,600 households, encompassing over 300,000 beneficiaries with the Kiambu County Government pledging to pay NHIF premiums for all the registered households.

Key features of the “Kiambu Afya” program include access to in-patient services at government-accredited hospitals across the country and enhanced outpatient care at County facilities.
