KFS receives Sh12 million park facility from Radisson Blu Hotel

Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and Nairobi Arboretum Community Forest Association have partnered with Radisson Blu Hotel in the construction of a Sh12 million ablution block and a paved walking track.

The six months’ rehabilitation project aims at improving the accessibility and amenities in the Park and caters for the growing number of visitors especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the project, thousands of City residents, especially people living with disability who frequent the Park will enjoy most after the rehabilitation and expansion of an old toilet block is completed.

The toilet located along Arboretum Walk has a cabro paved walk way to the washrooms with 4 female and 2 male rooms, a urinal for 8 and 2 toilets for the physically challenged.

Speaking during the handover of the new facilities at the Nairobi Arboretum, KFS Board Chairman Peter Kinyua thanked Radisson Blu Hotel for the rehabilitation and called upon other private sectors to partner with them in making the Arboretum shine again.

“We have other parks which need to be renovated and so far other private sectors have shown interest in partnering with us,” said Kinyua.

He called upon their partners to help them maintain the toilet and the Park in general.

Handing over the facilities, the Radisson Blu representative Rakhee Kantaria said they celebrate the milestone of making Nairobi Arboretum a better place.

She expressed her joy that Prime Bank has also volunteered to complete the second phase of the ablution block building.

Other private sectors that have expressed interested to partner with KFS and Nairobi Arboretum Community Forest Association include the M-pesa Foundation and UN Kenya among others.
