KERRA donates food to the needy

Kenya Rural Road Authority (KERRA) members of staff from Nairobi Region today donated foodstuffs and sanitary towels worth Sh130, 000 for distribution to at least 250 needy families in Nairobi County.
The foodstuffs include maize flour, sugar, rice and cooking fat.
KERRA staff members who presented the donations to the Nairobi County Commissioner, Flora Mworoa, through the Authority’s Deputy Director, Nairobi Region, Eng. Kenneth Mbogori, at Nyayo House, said they raised cash to purchase the items as their charitable assistance to those adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic effects.
Receiving the donations, County Commissioner Mworoa, said 250 families from Mukuru Kayaba have already been identified as beneficiaries and have been issued with vouchers to go for the supplies to avoid overcrowding.
She thanked KERRA staff for their kind gesture of assisting the vulnerable members of the society who are currently facing challenges during this time of Covid-19 pandemic.
“Your gesture is commendable as it is normally very difficult for anybody earning a salary to voluntarily allow their salary to be deducted towards a cause,” said Mworoa.
She also called on other members in the society who are relatively well endowed to consider helping those who don’t have.
In his remarks Eng. Mbogori noted that most Kenyans were not going to work during this period when the country is facing the challenges of Covid-19, an issue he noted, has made most people unable to get food for their families.
Kenya Rural Roads Authority is a State Corporation whose mandate is to offer guidance in the construction, maintenance and management of the rural road network in the country.
