Kericho Governor Dr. Erick Mutai has prescribed measures geared towards improving healthcare worker accountability and security in all health facilities in Kericho County.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the Kericho County Referral Hospital, Dr. Mutai emphasized that strict measures must be effected to ensure that only authorised healthcare professionals work in health care facilities in the region.
This follows an incident where three suspects were arrested in connection with illegal operations at Kericho County Referral Hospital, a level five healthcare facility without prior authorization from the Medical Superintendent.
“All healthcare workers and nurses would have to be issued identification badges, featuring their images, to make it easier to verify their credentials. This move will ensure that every healthcare worker is properly identified and can be traced back whenever need arises,” Mutai Said.
Speaking to Kenya News Agency (KNA) Dr. Mutai further emphasized the need for healthcare workers to adhere strictly to prescribed uniforms adding that this would help maintain a professional image, clearly identifying them especially by patients.
The Governor said biometric identification will be introduced in all government health facilities in the county.
