Kericho athletes aim high for World Championships

All is set for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where a host of Kericho athletes will join the rest of the athletes from around the world in competing in various disciplines.

Kericho’s Bernard Koech will participate in the 10,000-metre race, while Alex Kipngetich Ngeno and Ferguson Rotich will take part in the 800-metre race.

Beatrice Chebet will take on the 5000-metre race, while in the 3000-metre stipple-chase, Faith Cherotich will represent Kericho County.

Speaking to KNA Friday, Kericho Athletes’ Representative Mr. Peter Kiptoo Cheruiyot wished all the athletes representing the country the very best, expressing high hopes that they will deliver and fly Kenya’s flag high at the championships.

“Our Kericho athletes adequately prepared for the championships through rigorous training, and I am confident they will come back with medals,” added Kiptoo.

The biggest event in Hungary’s history, the World Athletics Championships, will be held from August 19–27, 2023, in Budapest, where more than 2,000 superheroes of athletics from over 200 countries will participate at the brand new, purpose-built National Athletics Centre.
