The Directorate of Immigration Services has announced that Kenya is set to migrate fully to the new East African Community (EAC) biometric e-passport by 30th November 2022.
In a press statement sent to newsrooms, Immigration Services Director General Alexander Muteshi advised Kenyans to acquire the new biometric e-passports to avoid any inconveniences.
“The deadline of phasing out of the old generation passport for all EAC member States is November 2022,” he stressed.
He said the decision to migrate to the new passport was agreed upon by the EAC Council of Minister’s meeting held in Arusha from 22nd to 29th November 2021.
