The Kenya U-23 football team Wednesday left the country for Ethiopia to participate in the forthcoming CECAFA U-23 championship set for Sunday 18, July this year.
The team held their final training session on Tuesday 13, July 2021 with their Coach Stanley Okumbi finalising his selected team.
The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, July 18 2021 with the draw of the competition placing teams in three groups, A, B and C.
The tally of the participating teams narrows to nine confirmed teams that will battle for the CECAFA cup.
The Kenyan U-23 team has been grouped in group C together with Djibouti and South Sudan U-23 teams. They open their match on Monday July 19, 2021 against Djibouti and they will finish their group stages matches on Thursday July 22, 2021 against South Sudan.
The winner of each group in the group stage qualifies to the next stages with the best runners up considered too for the next stage. The finals of the tournament are set on Friday, July 30, 2021.
