Kenya scouts call for peace in the elections season

The Kenya Scout Association- Kisii County has asked its members to preach peace across the county, especially during this electioneering period.

Consequently, scout members from different parts of the county, held a four-day event at Kisii University, where they were trained on the best ways to mitigate violence and enhance peace in the country.

During the function, scouts who had gone through certain struggles were asked to share their experiences as a way of inspiring their fellow youth to take up the mantle of promoting peace and become agents of change in the country.

The training also entailed an informative segment on how scouts all over Kenya can help in achieving the world scout sustainable development goals.

During the training exercise at the Kisii Flamingo Rovers, a branch of Kenya Scout Association in Kisii University organized a peace walk to the Kisii Central Business District (CBD) fostering the message, 47 as one, there is unity in diversity in promoting good neighborliness.

This was to convey a clear message to the residents that Kenya is a united Country, regardless of ethnic diversity and or place of origin, which should define how people relate.

Speaking to KNA, Sunday, the National Youth Leader, Kenya Scouts’ Association, Sheldon Marumbu, said the essence of the training exercise was to inspire the young generation to becoming agents of change by rising up and taking positive action towards building the country.
