China Southern Airlines (CSA) that operates two direct Guangzhou-Nairobi flights weekly is set to introduce a third weekly flight come 9th July 2018.
The airline, whose headquarters is located in Guangzhou City, in partnership with Kenya Airways, seeks to enhance trade and tourism between China and Kenya.
Speaking to strategic and trading partners at a Nairobi hotel Tuesday , the General Manager, CSA Nairobi office Wu Wei Jun said they were proud of building a flyover between Africa and China, which will make Guangzhou City not only attractive for tourism but also for trade exhibitions and fair.
“With the launch of China Southern Guangzhou Nairobi direct flight in 2015, approximately 120,000 passengers were transported. Our partnership with Kenya Airways, will see passengers from most of the African countries connected first to Kenya then to Guangzhou”, explained Jun.
CSA and the Guangzhou tourism administration in 2017 signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which focused on the standards and the quality of hospitality and improvement of tourism facilities.
Jun said Chinese tourism has experienced continued growth and diversification to become one of the largest and fastest growing economic sectors in the world over the past decades.
He noted that passengers via CSA can also be transferred to other China domestic cities and other international destinations like Japan, Australia, Korea and South East Asia with Guangzhou as the international hub just like Nairobi acts as a hub to Africa.
The airline has been ranked first in Asia and fifth worldwide in fleet size, operating more than 2,000 flights to over 200 destinations daily.
