Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) will demolish structures erected along road reserves in Makueni, authority’s Lower Eastern coordinator Eng.Ngige Njeu, has said.
Ngige said KENHA had issued notices to persons who had encroached on the road reserves and asked them to pull down the structures failing which they will be demolished at the owners’ cost.
“We have already marked the structures and we are appealing to the owners to remove them before we start the demolition,” he said.
Speaking during a sensitisation forum at Wote,Njeu noted that those planning to lay water pipes along roads should first seek clearance from KENHA.
“Those putting water pipes should seek our approval to avoid destruction in case of road expansion,” said the engineer.
