The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has identified quality excellence as the key to unlock sustainable growth and a competitive edge for African businesses.
KEBS hosted the third Regional QualityConference at the Sarova White Sands Beach Resort in Mombasa. The conference seeks to redefine Africa’s competitive advantage through a commitment to unparalleled quality standards.
The conference under the theme “Realizing Competitive Advantage through Quality Excellence,” aimed to foster dialogue, innovation, and excellence among industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders.
The conference delved into a myriad of critical topics on different facets of the quality revolution that ranged from impact of digital transformation on qualityassurance to the role of circular economies in Africa’s sustainable development.
Participants were challenged to think differently, share insights, and commit to actionable changes that will propel their organizations to new heights of success.
The Regional Quality Conference marks a significant milestone in KEBS’ ongoing efforts to elevate standards and champion excellence across the continent.
Through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to quality, KEBS and its partners are poised to drive Africa’s industries towards unmatched competitiveness and success.
KEBS Managing Director (MD) Esther Ngari said in an era where global markets are increasingly interconnected and competitive, quality excellence is a key enabler for businesses to be afloat.
“In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving marketplace, the pursuit of competitive advantage through quality excellence is not just important; it’s imperative,” said MD Ngari.
“Our commitment to quality is a journey, not a destination. It is about creating a culture that transcends compliance and becomes the cornerstone of our competitive advantage,” she added.
Patricia Okune, a Council Member of the National Standards Council encouraged industry players to improve on the quality of their products to penetrate more regional markets.
“Quality is the catalyst that propels businessesfrom local markets to global stages,” said Okune. “By embracing a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, we can create legacies of excellence that transcend generations.”
She further challenged policy makers to identify and implement strategies to enhance quality, igniting a fire of excellence that promises to redefine the essence of quality in African industries and economies.
