KCSE exams had a smooth start in Rachuonyo

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024 exams commenced smoothly in Rachuonyo Sub-County.

The Sub-County director of education Julius Opondo said the government was committed to delivering credible exams.

However, Opondo said a school bus ferrying centre managers got stuck on the roads Monday evening causing a slight delay in delivery of student answer scripts at the container.

By 6.45pm some scripts had not reached the exam container from about 5 exam centres.

At the same time, heavy rain accompanied by stormy- wind had hit the area at around 3.30pm affecting some roads.

The Director said a section of the road in the interior part of the sub county, near Dol centre was also impassable.

“We dispatched a stand by vehicle and ensured the centre managers and the answer scripts arrived safely at the container,” he said.

Rachuonyo Sub-County has a total of 35 public secondary schools with 3538 candidates including 1588 boys and 1680 girls, who are sitting for KCSE exam this year.

“We also have 7 private secondary schools with a total of 311 students comprised of 123 boys and 188 girls,” said Opondo.
